5 Spring Food Trends
Spring is the season where everything bursts back into life and our senses start being stimulated once again. It is the flush of colors, tastes and sounds of nature that brings us back to life!
This perception medley inspires us and is the reason for why spring is our favorite season to cater in! With that said, we are ecstatic to bring you the latest trends and insights onto what is HOT this season! Let’s spring right into it – here are 5 spring food trends:
1- Floral Flavors
We called this one out at the beginning of the year on our “Upcoming 2018 Food Trends” blog. Back then, we dared you to be bold and start adding floral flavors to your menus and cocktails. If you haven’t already, it’s the perfect season to add some elderflower, rose or orange notes to your all-time favorites to invoke a light and spring-like taste!
One of the biggest trends right now is having a holistic lifestyle and maintaining balance. With that said, this spring trend is one that will let you enjoy your favorite meals and cuisine with a twist. Think of your typical burger or pasta bowl and exchanging a few ingredients to swap the carbs away. Try using portobello mushrooms instead of buns for your burger or zucchini instead of pasta!
Speaking of carb swap alternatives, one of the biggest trends this spring is to chop or shred cauliflower and use it as rice or pizza crust. Cauliflower provides a fresh and taste to any of your dishes which will be perfect for this upcoming spring. This superfood is packed with vitamins and minerals which are essential for reducing the risk of inflammation any heart/brain defects
Aside from the freshness beets provide, they are incredibly malleable in terms of their presentation. Cook them, cube them, grate them and simply throw them on top of your favorite greens for incredible taste and health benefits. If you’re looking for a new superfood to start incorporating into your diet this spring, this veggie is the one!
5- Hyper Local Food
As the weather starts to warm up and the days are getting longer, farmer markets become the place where individuals get together to connect personally with their farmers, form relationships with other community members and obtain the freshest, organic produce available. We are entering a season where sense of localism for our ingredients is bigger than ever before. We are certainly proud of our Colorado based produce!
