5 Delicious, Mouthwatering Summer Desserts For Your Colorado Event

Summer is a vibrant time in Colorado that is typically associated with outdoor BBQs, picnics and farmers markets. Juicy meats, tender grilled vegetables and summer cookouts are great but when your sweet tooth is aching, fruity desserts tend to taste better with the heat. Summer produce brings plenty of fruity and delicious flavors that are refreshing and will help you cool down from the 80’s.

Here at Relish, we make the most out of the summer season’s produce and the decadent flavors available because we have some of the best fruit in the country. Colorado is known for its rich apples, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries and most importantly, its palisade peaches. In the summer weeks, we constantly incorporate these ingredients in many of our dishes and desserts, which you can also request for your upcoming event.

1) Perfect Palisade Peach Crisp

Every August, Colorado celebrates National Peach Month with great enthusiasm and flavor. Palisade peaches have been around our region since the early 1890’s and make up a big part of our local pride. These peaches are sought after by individuals from hundreds of miles away who will drive into town to get their share and taste of Colorado.

Peaches don’t last long, so a crisp is an easy and tasty way to turn any leftover ripe ones into a tasty summer dessert. The Relish experience is all about the texture so we will typically add crumbs or oats to take this dessert to the next level and make it “crunchy”. More often than not, we will also serve your crisp with some ice cream to add an additional flavor to the mix. Don’t forget that you can always have it cold in the morning.

2) Blackberry Pie Bars

Blackberries contain a variety of minerals including potassium, magnesium and calcium as well as vitamins A, C, E which is why here at Relish, we love cooking and baking with this superfruit. Making these pie bars really test our patience, since you have to wait a couple hours before cutting into them. Consider ordering this treat for outdoor events since they don’t need to be refrigerated and can withstand any weather. With that said, the bars are also particularly delicious when served chilled.

3) Apple Hand Pies

Apple pie, an American classic, can be enjoyed all year round but these small-bite versions are very convenient for summer picnics and casual events. Hand pies are a great alternative for portion control and still allow you to feel a sense of accomplishment that comes with having an ‘entire pie for yourself’. We make these treats from scratch and only use the freshest ingredients available from our local partners. We believe it’s important for you to know where your food comes from and eat with a clear conscience.

4) Fruit Kebabs

We’re all about putting a spin on the classic. Fruit kebabs or skewers are a fun and festive way to enjoy the most refreshing and fresh fruits of the season. This is a dessert that can be enjoyed by everyone and can be customized according to dietary preferences and restrictions. To make things interactive at your event, this can also be a DIY station where guests can pick and choose their fruit and toppings.

5) Sugared Prosecco Grapes

Last but certainly not least, we also offer a selection of boozy desserts. These prosecco soaked grapes tend to be the ideal midnight treat that will keep your party running a bit longer. If there is a freezer on-site, freezing the grapes will take this boozy treat to the next level. Treat that piece of information with caution because we’ve seen bowls of these disappear in record time. If what you’re looking for is a party in your guests’ mouths, these are the right treats for your event.
